The Tsonakas volcano

The volcano & lava dome Tsonakas characterizes the landscape of South Methana. Its former eruption center is located south of the caldera Stavrolongos and its lava flow extends for a length of about 2 km. It must have been a huge eruption with enormous lava masses. The older part of the town Methana with the hamlet of Agios Charalambos nestles on it today.
